I have added a new block to the site which allows an automation of the process of adding a parent role to a school. Students can do it themselves and an e-mail will be sent to their parents to be able to login as them and track their work.
The 2.0 version of Moodle is under heavy development, but there are already some exciting features being added. One of these is the sharing of portfolios and on-line storage facilities. There is a built in plugin to access your box.net account and therefore share material with others through your course. The 1GB system is free and worth looking into.
